What To Do Before Your Male Betta Arrives!
We Breed All Of Our Bettas In Home!
-
Male bettas are a territorial fish but some tolerate a few tank mates! A good size tank for tankmates would 20 or more gallons of water, giving space for your betta and its shared tankmates. Good tank mates for a male betta include Corydora Catfish, Otocinclus Catfish, Shrimp, Kuhli Loaches, Rasboras and More! When selecting tankmates for your betta, assure they are not aggressive or "nippy", some fish may want to snack on your betta's flowy fins! You also do not want to add any fish that resemble a betta too much, for example, Guppies! DO NOT PUT MORE THAN ONE MALE BETTA PER TANK!
-
Make sure your tank is fully cycled! We know it's hard to be patient, but it is best for your fish's health that you wait for your cycle to complete before purchasing!
-
Bettas require a tank size minimum of 3-5 gallons for long-finned varieties and 10 or more for short-finned varieties, they are incredibly intelligent and curious creatures will utilize this extra space all day hunting for food and exploring!
-
It is recommended that you only use silk or live plants for your betta fish, their fins are very delicate and can tear on abrasive, sharp objects. To test if something is too sharp for your betta's fins, use pantyhose and rub them against the object you are looking to add: if it snags, its likely not suitable for a betta and must be filed down until smooth or replaced!

Bettas are a tropical fish, keep them in heated water of 80-82 degrees F (26-27 degrees C)
